How Kisspeptin-10 works

A short-acting experimental peptide that triggers reproductive hormone release.

Also called: KP-10, KP10, Kisspeptin 112-121, Metastin 45-54, NSC 741805.

Reproductive axis peptides · KISS1 receptor agonist.

It switches on kisspeptin receptors on brain cells that release GnRH. GnRH tells the pituitary to release LH and FSH, which signal the testes or ovaries. The response depends on the person’s hormone levels and whether this pathway works.

  • KISS1R / GPR54: Activates GnRH-releasing brain cells.
  • GnRH → LH and FSH: Changes signals to the testes and ovaries; sex-hormone effects vary.

Half-life: IV plasma disappearance: 3.8 ± 0.3 minutes in men and 4.1 ± 0.4 minutes in women. This is not the duration of hormonal effects.
