How DSIP works

An experimental sleep peptide with small, mixed human studies and no FDA-approved dose.

Also called: Delta sleep-inducing peptide, Delta-sleep-inducing peptide, Emideltide.

Sleep peptides · Experimental nine-amino-acid peptide with uncertain sleep-signaling targets.

DSIP was named after slow brain waves seen in early animal work. Its natural role and specific receptor remain uncertain. Human results do not support a simple sleeping-pill effect.

  • Sleep and body-clock pathways: Proposed effects on sleep timing and slow waves are inconsistent across studies.
  • Stress-hormone pathways: Some human tests lowered ACTH; others found no change in ACTH or cortisol.
  • Endogenous opioid signaling: Animal experiments suggest indirect opioid-system effects; a direct opioid receptor action is unproven.

Half-life: A 2001 review cites 7-8 minutes in human plasma. This does not establish half-life after an injection under the skin.
