Mechano growth factor side effects and risks
A muscle-repair peptide idea with mixed lab findings and no human dosing studies.
Also called: MGF, Non-PEG MGF, MGF E peptide, MGF-Ct24E, IGF-1Ec E-domain peptide.
IGF-1 splice variants · Synthetic E-domain peptide associated with IGF-1Ec · Evidence: Animal studies only.
Reported side effects
- Injection-site pain, bruising or bleeding: No compound specific human rate. These are injection route risks., moderate. Persistent pain, a growing lump or bleeding needs assessment. (source)
- Infection or tissue injury from an unregulated injection: No MGF specific rate or denominator was found., serious. Spreading redness, fever or severe pain needs urgent assessment. (source)
- Allergic or immune reaction: Possible with an injection or its ingredients; no MGF specific human rate., serious. Breathing trouble, swelling or fainting requires emergency care. (source)
- Blood-sugar changes, theoretical: No direct human evidence for this peptide. Risk is extrapolated from the wider hormone drug setting., serious. Check glucose with symptoms, particularly with insulin or glucose-lowering pills. (source)
Stop and get help if
- Trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, fainting or widespread hives after exposure: Stop exposure and call emergency services immediately. Use prescribed emergency allergy treatment if available.
- Confusion, seizure, unconsciousness or low blood sugar that does not resolve: Get emergency care. Do not give food or drink to someone who cannot swallow safely.
- Hot, spreading injection-site redness, fever, pus or rapidly worsening pain: Stop injections and seek urgent medical assessment for infection or tissue injury.
- Chest pain, severe breathlessness, collapse or new neurological symptoms: Call emergency services now. Tell the team about all peptides and other drugs used.
- Severe muscle pain or swelling with numbness after a muscle injection: Seek emergency care for possible bleeding or pressure injury in the muscle.
Who should avoid it
- under18: Precaution: no pediatric dosing or safety study of this synthetic peptide was found.
- pregnant: Precaution: pregnancy and fetal safety have not been studied.
- breastfeeding: Precaution: breast-milk transfer and infant effects are unknown.
- tryingToConceive: Precaution: fertility effects and a safe time to stop before conception are unknown.
- activeCancer: Precaution: MGF E peptide promoted prostate cancer-cell growth in culture. Human cancer risk has not been measured.
- cancerHistory: Review prior cancer with the treating clinician. A laboratory cell-growth signal exists; human recurrence risk is unknown.
- diabetes: Blood-sugar effects are uncharacterized. Insulin and some diabetes pills already raise low-sugar risk.
- heartCondition: Animal heart findings do not establish human safety. New swelling or breathlessness needs assessment.
- kidneyDisease: Clearance in kidney disease is unknown. Kidney problems also change blood-sugar and bleeding risks.
- liverDisease: No dosing adjustment is established. Liver disease can complicate interpretation of IGF-1 tests and bleeding risk.
- bleedingDisorder: Muscle injections can cause bleeding or a deep collection of blood. This is a route risk, not a proven peptide effect.
- testedAthlete: WADA 2026 prohibits mechano growth factors at all times under S2.3. PEG modification does not make an analogue permitted.
- other: Avoid a substance that previously caused a serious allergic reaction. Actual vial ingredients may be uncertain.
Interactions
- Insulin: Insulin causes low blood sugar. Any added effect of this peptide is untested; symptoms need a glucose check.
- Sulfonylureas and meglitinides: These pills can cause low blood sugar. No interaction study with MGF or PEG-MGF establishes a safe combination.
- Growth hormone, IGF-1 and GH-releasing drugs: Stacking adds untested growth and metabolic exposures. Human safety and claims about optimal spacing are unproven.
- Anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs: Muscle punctures can bleed or bruise more on these drugs. A direct chemical interaction with the peptide is unknown.
- PEG-MGF: Related products may be duplicated in a stack. No human study establishes combined exposure or benefit.
Product quality risks
- Two illicit MGF preparations contained a C-terminal amidated analogue. This small identity study cannot estimate market-wide quality.
- A separate illicit full-length MGF product contained a modified 12,264.9 Da protein. The MGF name can cover different molecules.
- Unregulated vials may have the wrong identity or amount, impurities, microbes or bacterial toxins. No compound-specific contamination rate is established.
Related to Mechano growth factor (MGF)
- PEG-MGF: A modified MGF peptide with no human dosing studies and uncertain identity in unregulated vials.
- IGF-1 LR3: An unapproved growth signal with no human trials found.
