KPV side effects and risks
An alpha-MSH fragment studied for gut inflammation in animals, with no human dosing trial.
Also called: Lys-Pro-Val, Lysine-proline-valine, alpha-MSH(11-13), KPV acetate.
Anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial peptides · C-terminal alpha-MSH tripeptide with preclinical anti-inflammatory activity · Evidence: Animal studies only.
Reported side effects
- Human adverse-effect rates are unknown: No human safety trial or formal rate estimate. No reports in FDA searches through December 3, 2025 does not prove safety., moderate. Review new symptoms promptly; absence of reports is not evidence of safety. (source)
- Fatigue or symptom flares reported online: Unverified reports; no denominator or confirmed cause., moderate. Stop and seek assessment for worsening symptoms. (source)
- Possible serious allergic reaction: FDA describes immune reaction risk; KPV specific incidence is unknown., serious. Breathing trouble, throat swelling or fainting needs emergency care. (source)
Stop and get help if
- Trouble breathing, throat swelling or collapse: Stop exposure and get emergency help immediately.
- Fever with a spreading hot, painful injection site: Seek urgent care for possible infection.
- New severe or worsening symptoms after use: Stop and obtain medical assessment; do not assume a normal detox reaction.
- Severe belly pain, heavy or nonstop rectal bleeding, or vomiting blood: Get emergency medical help now.
- Bloody diarrhea with fever or a fast heartbeat: Obtain urgent same-day assessment; a severe bowel flare may need hospital care.
Who should avoid it
- pregnant: Precautionary block. No human pregnancy safety studies were found.
- breastfeeding: Precautionary block. Milk transfer and infant effects are unknown.
- tryingToConceive: Precautionary block. Reproductive and developmental safety is unstudied.
- under18: No pediatric dose or safety evidence; adult-only reference.
- melanomaOrAtypicalMoles: Melanoma safety is unstudied. KPV lacks alpha-MSH pigment activity in preclinical work; melanotan risks cannot simply be assigned to KPV.
- kidneyDisease: No human clearance or dose-adjustment data in kidney disease.
- liverDisease: No human clearance or dose-adjustment data in liver disease.
- immunosuppressed: Immune effects and infection risk with immunosuppressive treatment have not been tested in people.
- other: Avoid re-exposure after a suspected serious allergy to KPV or any ingredient.
- testedAthlete: S0 prohibits unapproved pharmacological substances at all times. Verify status with the relevant anti-doping body.
Interactions
- Systemic immunosuppressants: Precaution only. No human interaction data establish how KPV combines with immune-suppressing medicines.
Product quality risks
- FDA found inconsistent KPV naming and incomplete quality data, including missing microbiological tests.
- Unregulated peptides may have the wrong ingredient or amount, microbes, endotoxins, solvents or other contaminants.
- No independent market survey measuring contamination or underdosing of KPV products was found.
Related to KPV
- LL-37: A human defense peptide with mixed topical wound-trial results and no established injection regimen.
- BPC-157: An experimental repair peptide with mostly animal evidence and a few small human reports.
- GHK-Cu: A copper-binding skin peptide with small topical studies and untested systemic injections.
