What does Ipamorelin do? Benefits and evidence

An experimental peptide that triggers growth hormone release.

Also called: NNC 26-0161, NNC-26-0161.

Growth hormone secretagogues (ghrelin receptor) · Ghrelin receptor agonist and growth hormone secretagogue.

Ipamorelin prompts growth hormone release. Human research includes short IV studies and bowel-surgery trials. The published surgery trial did not show a significant benefit. Repeated injections under the skin for muscle, sleep or fat loss lack controlled outcome data. Blood sugar changes and product quality are key concerns.

  • In a small study, an IV dose of ipamorelin caused a brief rise in growth hormone. (Studied in a trial)
  • People report using it for muscle, fat loss and recovery, but controlled trials of these goals were not found. (Reported by users)
  • People report bedtime use for sleep, though some reports describe anxiety and insomnia instead. (Reported by users)
