How Matrixyl works

A topical cosmetic peptide with limited human evidence for making fine lines less visible.

Also called: Palmitoyl pentapeptide-4, Pal-KTTKS, Palmitoyl-Lys-Thr-Thr-Lys-Ser, C16-KTTKS, Palmitoyl pentapeptide-3, former name.

Cosmetic peptides · Lipid-linked collagen-fragment signal peptide.

It copies a tiny piece of collagen, a support protein in skin. In lab cells, the peptide can signal more collagen production. A fatty tail helps it enter skin, but delivery depends on the whole cream.

  • Skin-cell matrix production: KTTKS can increase collagen and fibronectin production in cultured cells.
  • Skin barrier: Adding palmitic acid changes skin entry and stability; it does not prove deep delivery in people.

Half-life: Human skin and blood half-lives are unknown.
