How Adipotide works

A fat-blood-vessel targeting peptide with monkey weight-loss data and kidney toxicity.

Also called: FTPP, FTTP, Prohibitin-TP01, Prohibitin-targeting peptide 1, CKGGRAKDC-GG-D(KLAKLAK)2.

Fat-loss peptides · Prohibitin-targeted proapoptotic peptidomimetic.

One part binds prohibitin on blood vessels that feed white fat. Another part damages the cell’s energy machinery and triggers cell death. This reduced fat in animals. Reduced eating also contributed; the same effect has not been shown in people.

  • Cell-surface prohibitin in white-fat blood vessels: The CKGGRAKDC targeting sequence helps deliver the attached cell-killing peptide.
  • Mitochondrial membranes: The D(KLAKLAK)2 part disrupts cell energy machinery after entering a target cell.
  • Food-intake regulation: Reduced eating explained much of the weight loss in rodent studies; the signal remains unclear.

Half-life: Human half-life is unknown; planned blood sampling produced no public results.
