PEG-MGF: research
A modified MGF peptide with no human dosing studies and uncertain identity in unregulated vials.
Also called: PEG MGF, PEGylated mechano growth factor, Mechano growth factor pegylated.
IGF-1 splice variants · PEG-conjugated synthetic MGF E-domain peptide.
No direct human study. Listed experiments concern related MGF fragments or PEG carrier systems, not characterized PEG-MGF.
Studies
- MGF fragments, not PEG-MGF: negative replication. in-vitro, Mouse muscle cells, primary human muscle cells, mouse muscle stem cells and cardiac cells.. MGF fragments did not reproduce the muscle-cell effects reported in earlier work. (source)
- MGF in PEG hydrogel after a heart attack. animal, Male mice with surgically induced heart attacks.. MGF released from hydrogel rods preserved heart function; this was not PEG-MGF. (source)

PEG-MGF side effects and risks
Reported side effects
- Injection-site pain, bruising or bleeding: No compound specific human rate. These are injection route risks., moderate. Persistent pain, a growing lump or bleeding needs assessment. (source)
- Infection or tissue injury from an unregulated injection: No MGF specific rate or denominator was found., serious. Spreading redness, fever or severe pain needs urgent assessment. (source)
- Allergic or immune reaction: FDA flags possible immune reactions to PEG MGF; no human rate is available., serious. Breathing trouble, swelling or fainting requires emergency care. (source)
- Blood-sugar changes, theoretical: No direct human evidence for this peptide. Risk is extrapolated from the wider hormone drug setting., serious. Check glucose with symptoms, particularly with insulin or glucose-lowering pills. (source)
Stop and get help if
- Trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, fainting or widespread hives after exposure: Stop exposure and call emergency services immediately. Use prescribed emergency allergy treatment if available.
- Confusion, seizure, unconsciousness or low blood sugar that does not resolve: Get emergency care. Do not give food or drink to someone who cannot swallow safely.
- Hot, spreading injection-site redness, fever, pus or rapidly worsening pain: Stop injections and seek urgent medical assessment for infection or tissue injury.
- Chest pain, severe breathlessness, collapse or new neurological symptoms: Call emergency services now. Tell the team about all peptides and other drugs used.
- Severe muscle pain or swelling with numbness after a muscle injection: Seek emergency care for possible bleeding or pressure injury in the muscle.
Who should avoid it
- under18: Precaution: no pediatric dosing or safety study of this synthetic peptide was found.
- pregnant: Precaution: pregnancy and fetal safety have not been studied.
- breastfeeding: Precaution: breast-milk transfer and infant effects are unknown.
- tryingToConceive: Precaution: fertility effects and a safe time to stop before conception are unknown.
- activeCancer: Precaution: related MGF peptide promoted prostate cancer-cell growth. Whether PEG-MGF shares this effect is unknown.
- cancerHistory: Review prior cancer with the treating clinician. A laboratory cell-growth signal exists; human recurrence risk is unknown.
- diabetes: Blood-sugar effects are uncharacterized. Insulin and some diabetes pills already raise low-sugar risk.
- heartCondition: Animal heart findings do not establish human safety. New swelling or breathlessness needs assessment.
- kidneyDisease: Clearance in kidney disease is unknown. Kidney problems also change blood-sugar and bleeding risks.
- liverDisease: No dosing adjustment is established. Liver disease can complicate interpretation of IGF-1 tests and bleeding risk.
- bleedingDisorder: Muscle injections can cause bleeding or a deep collection of blood. This is a route risk, not a proven peptide effect.
- testedAthlete: WADA 2026 prohibits mechano growth factors at all times under S2.3. PEG modification does not make an analogue permitted.
- other: Avoid a substance that previously caused a serious allergic reaction. Actual vial ingredients may be uncertain.
- other: Avoid a PEG-containing product after confirmed PEG allergy. Product identity and the PEG component may be poorly characterized.
Interactions
- Insulin: Insulin causes low blood sugar. Any added effect of this peptide is untested; symptoms need a glucose check.
- Sulfonylureas and meglitinides: These pills can cause low blood sugar. No interaction study with MGF or PEG-MGF establishes a safe combination.
- Growth hormone, IGF-1 and GH-releasing drugs: Stacking adds untested growth and metabolic exposures. Human safety and claims about optimal spacing are unproven.
- Anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs: Muscle punctures can bleed or bruise more on these drugs. A direct chemical interaction with the peptide is unknown.
- Unpegylated MGF: Related products may be duplicated in a stack. No human study establishes combined exposure or benefit.
Product quality risks
- No independent market survey of PEG-MGF purity, dose, sterility or endotoxin was found.
- Related MGF products have contained modified peptide or protein constructs. These findings do not establish what is in a PEG-MGF vial.
- Unregulated vials may have the wrong identity or amount, impurities, microbes or bacterial toxins. No compound-specific contamination rate is established.
- FDA flags possible immune reactions, peptide impurities and difficulty characterizing PEG-MGF. A claimed purity percentage cannot resolve these issues.
How PEG-MGF works
PEG-MGF attaches a polymer called PEG to an MGF-related fragment. The aim is longer exposure. Related fragments affect growth signals in some lab experiments, but results conflict and do not establish how PEG-MGF works in people.
- MGF E-domain signalling: Some cell studies report growth or movement signals through ERK. An independent study failed to reproduce key effects.
- IGF-1 receptor: A direct receptor target for the isolated E peptide is not established. It is not interchangeable with mature IGF-1.
Half-life: No human half-life has been established.
Gaps: No human maximum dose exists. aboveStudied is false only because no numeric human comparator is available; it does not imply safety. No label or human trial protocol, independent clinician dosing guideline, or dose-adjustment rule was found. No data establish safety in pregnancy, breastfeeding, conception attempts, children or organ disease. Screening blocks are precautions. Cancer risk, fertility effects, immune reactions and long-term toxicity have not been measured in users. No controlled human study validates stacking, workout timing, microdosing, site-specific growth or cycling breaks. Community frequency tags describe this search, not population prevalence. Copies and plans are not independent use reports. No compound-specific poison-center series or reliable adverse-event denominator was found. National EU approvals and exact UK, Canadian and Australian construct-specific legal coverage need further verification. An FDA enforcement letter mentioning PEG-MGF was located, but seller-identifying titles were excluded from the source set. Human studies of endogenous MGF after exercise or GH, and human cells tested in a dish, are not human MGF administration trials. No directly characterized PEG-MGF animal, cell or human dose-response study was located. PEG hydrogel microrods are not PEG-conjugated MGF. PEG size, attachment site, sequence, free-peptide fraction and the meaning of labelled milligrams may vary or be undocumented. A review lists 100/200/300 mcg loading steps and 200–400 mcg/day maintenance. Unclear route/frequency linkage prevents encoding a full titration.
